How much does it cost?
We are offering game title loans on subscription for a recurring charge $30.00 per month. In some cases and with certain deals, we may lower the first month’s initial fee, or offer other perks for subscribers.
How long does it last?
The period from the initial charge for starting a subscription to the next rebilling is the same numbered date of the following calendar month. (For example, a subscription started on January 15th would be rebilled February 15th.) In situations where a charge on the same numbered date is not possible for the following month (for example, a subscription begun on March 31st), the subscription will renew and rebill on the next possible calendar day (in this case, May 1st and then subsequently June 1st, etc.)
How does rebilling work?
We will rebill for the month by charging the credit card on file with your application. A receipt will be sent to the email address on file. Subscriptions will continue and automatically renew unless and until terminated by the user.
How can I sign up for this service?
We will have you fill out a brief subscription form and sign an agreement to our terms and conditions in-person when you want to start. Once the initial charge for subscription is run, you can begin to use the service!
How can I pay?
The initial subscription may be paid with cash, credit card, or gift card (since we require the application process in-person to verify a user’s credit card). Subsequent months would need to be billed to the credit card on file with your application.
What happens if my card is declined on rebilling?
If your credit card is declined on a subsequent billing month, we will notify you at the time of the attempted rebilling and will require an alternate credit card for charging your renewal. Unless provided for otherwise, this alternate card would then become the new card on file for renewal and rebilling. Any games checked out would be due on the next available day for pick up or drop off, unless a different card is supplied or substituted beforehand. This sort of lapse would not change or extend your renewal date in subsequent months.
Why is a credit card needed to be on file to have a subscription?
For security reasons, our point-of-sale system encodes and encrypts credit card transactions, and your credit card information is not saved or retained for access on our end at a later date. Therefore, we need to keep a separate, secured (non-digital) record in order to rebill.
Why is an email address needed to be on file to have a subscription?
In addition to receipts for this service, any changes of service terms or other notifications will be sent to this email address. We will never share your email address with any third-party or outside vendor, nor distribute it to any mailing list not directly associated with GameHaus.
How can I cancel?
Provided that you have no games checked out at the time you wish to cancel, you can contact us at subscriptions@gamehauscafe.com before 12:00 PM on the day of your subscription rebilling and let us know you would like to end your subscription and not be rebilled.
What happens if the subscription terms are modified or changed?
In the event of changes to the terms of this service, we will notify customers in a timely and efficient manner (as required by law) via the email on-file.
Which games are available for checking out?
We have over fifteen-hundred board and card games available in our library for checking out. Some out-of-print or hard to replace titles may be unavailable, but we will let you know once you have sent your requests whether a title may not be able to be loaned out. Our list can be found on our Boardgamegeek profile.
How do I request game titles?
Fill out this form and submit your requests. If you would like more information about a particular title or recommendations for games, contact us at subscriptions@gamehauscafe.com.
How late can I request games before picking them up?
You can request games up to three hours before the Tuesday and Saturday windows for pickup.
Can I request any of your out-of-print or rare games?
In some cases, we will loan out such titles; if you request one, we will make sure that you know we have determined that title is rare or out-of-print before you take possession of it.
How will I know what games I have requested will be available?
Once your request is made, we will send an email confirmation that the titles you have requested (or any substitutes or alternates) are available, and when they will be ready for pickup.
Can I just browse your shelves and pick up games “on the day” without requesting ahead of time?
In order to minimize the amount of time spent in the café and to ensure safe measures with regards to Covid-19, we are not permitting browsing of the library.
How many games can I check out at any given time?
We are limiting the number of games checked out by a subscriber at any given moment to two. In the case of games with smaller expansions (for example, a game that may have some additional cards or pieces or rules from an expansion included in the box for the base game), we are counting those as one game. In the case of games where the expansions are separate boxes on our shelves (such as the many expansions to the second edition of Arkham Horror), we would count the base game as one title and an expansion as a second title.
How long can I have games titles checked out?
Game titles can be checked out for a maximum of fourteen days, after which they will be considered overdue. A non-refundable $5.00 charge per overdue game will be made on your credit card on file, and you would have until the next pick-up or drop-off date to get the game back to us before incurring a replacement charge equal to the game’s MSRP. In situations where the game is rare or out-of-print, that replacement charge would be $25.00 plus our best estimate of the game’s replacement cost or MSRP value.
If I want a game longer than the loan out time, could I do a “back-to-back” checkout and check it out again?
In order to have all titles potentially available to the public, we are prohibiting this type of loan out. We are requiring at least one full week since the return of a title for it to be loaned out again to the same subscriber.
How do I go about picking up or dropping off games?
We will have two weekly windows of time in which to pick up or drop off games – those windows would be every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and every Saturday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We reserve the right to modify or alter these windows as needed, but shall do everything in our power to notify you ahead of time as best as possible in such cases.
What happens if I don’t pick up the games I requested on the date they are available?
We will hold games until the end of the next possible pickup date, after which they will be returned to the library.
Can you deliver or ship games if I can’t pick them up or drop them off?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer either shipping or delivery options. Games will need to be picked up from and dropped off to GameHaus.
Can I designate someone to pick up or drop off games on my behalf?
Yes, with your subscription you can designate another person to pick up and drop off games; you can change this designee at any time by simply sending us an email with the new person’s name. In any event, please remember that the subscriber is ultimately responsible for the games loaned out.
What happens if I discover a game is missing pieces?
We have done quality checks on games in our library on a regular basis, but we realize that sometimes pieces go missing. Titles requested far enough in advance may be checked to ensure that all necessary pieces are there and that the game is playable. As to condition of the games when they are loaned out, please understand that since this is a library, you may receive a game which has received some wear and tear in the past; any significant pieces missing may be noted (and in certain cases substituted) on sheets inside the box, alerting you to this fact. We also reserve the right to substitute game pieces as the need arises, and you may be alerted to the fact depending on the circumstances. However, we will do everything in our power to ensure that the games we provide are fully playable and that anything that happens to be missing would be very minor or cosmetic.
What happens if a game is returned damaged or with pieces missing?
In situations like this with substantial damage or loss, we’ll determine what the game’s MSRP is, and the account would be charged that to replace it. If the game is rare or out-of-print, an additional fee of $25.00 plus our best estimation of the value would be charged. In extreme cases of this, we reserve the right to terminate a subscription immediately.
What is being done to ensure safety with regards to Covid-19?
- As mentioned before, game titles must be requested in advance – this helps to ensure that the titles will be available, as well as helps us to prepare for when you want to pick up games, while minimizing the amount of time you need to spend doing so.
- Games which have been checked out by prior subscribers will have been “quarantined” beforehand, for a period of 72 hours (3 days) before they will be made available again for loan out.
- All subscribers (and anyone who may be accompanying them) who are entering the café are required to wear face coverings. This is non-negotiable.
- Only one reserving party or group will be allowed to enter the café for this service at any given time.
- “Curbside service” may be arranged; please reach out to us should you desire it and we will work out the details.
- Should you have any questions or concerns with regards to Covid-19 safety protocols, do not hesitate to contact us.
